Newborn babies have only a limited ability to regulate their body temperature. This luxuriously soft swaddling wrap made of pure superfine merino wool will keep your baby comfortable and snug from birth. As the baby grows and no longer needs to be swaddled, it will have many other great uses over time.
- 100% Natural, made from silky-soft hypoallergenic Australian merino wool
- Size: 39 x 35.5in (100 x 90cm)
- 4-Season use. Unlike any other fiber, merino wool creates a microclimate around your baby's body and regulates baby’s body temperature naturally. It helps keep your baby warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot
- OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label (23.HUS.59156, Hohenstein HTTI) this product has passed safety tests for the presence of harmful substances
- Certified by the Woolmark Company, our products are sustainable and environmentally friendly
- Keeps baby comfortable and dry even when 'accidents' occur as merino can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture before it feels damp
- Naturally stretchy, easier to wrap, and stays in place better than other wraps
- Naturally flame-resistant; Offers high UV protection
- Unlike cocoon-shaped swaddles that babies outgrow quickly, it can be used for many other purposes when baby is no longer swaddled - a blanket for the stroller, car or crib, a nursing cover, a sunshade, and lots more
- An ideal baby shower gift
100% Natural
Merino wool comes from Merino sheep, infused with nature’s ability to make it the perfect fiber to have against your baby’s skin.
Silky soft & hypoallergenic
Made of superfine merino wool that is supremely soft against baby’s skin.
Regulates body temperature
One of Merino’s key properties is the ability to keep a baby warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm, so you can be assured of the perfect temperature regulation for your little one (something they struggle with until they’re older!).
Warming even when wet
Nighttime accidents happen, but when merino wool gets wet, it retains its warming properties. Your baby will have a comfortable night’s sleep whatever the circumstances.
Ideal for layering
Superbly breathable, lightweight and silky soft - perfect worn on own or layered under clothing or a Woolino Sleep Bag.

Will merino wool itch my baby's sensitive skin?
Not at all like traditional wool! Woolino garments are made with superfine Australian merino wool, which feels wonderfully soft and gentle against your baby's delicate skin. Its fine fibers bend easily, so they don't have that scratchy feeling you might associate with regular wool.
Merino is also naturally breathable and moisture-wicking, making it a wonderful choice for sensitive skin, including skin prone to eczema.
Is merino wool too warm for summer or hot climates?
One of the amazing things about merino wool is that it isn't just for keeping warm. It actually helps regulate body temperature, making it comfortable to wear throughout the year.
Merino naturally breathes and wicks moisture away from the skin, helping your little one stay comfortable when it's warm and cozy when it's cool. Our lightweight merino wool baby clothes are perfect on their own in warmer weather or as an extra layer when temperatures drop.
Woolino merino wool garments seem thin. Will they keep my child warm?
Don't let the lightweight fabric fool you. Merino wool is incredibly good at keeping little ones warm without all the bulk.
Unlike traditional wool, the finesse of the Merino fiber allows for a very fine-spun yarn and densely knit fabric. Its fine, naturally crimped fibers trap tiny pockets of air that help hold warmth close to the body. That's why our merino wool clothes can feel so light and soft while still providing wonderful insulation. They're great on their own or as a base layer when extra warmth is needed.
How can I tell if my baby is too hot or too cold?
The easiest way is to feel your baby's chest, tummy, or the back of their neck. If they feel hot or sweaty, they may be wearing too much. If their chest feels cool, they might need another layer.
Don't worry if their hands or feet feel a little cool. That's perfectly common in babies and isn't a reliable way to judge their body temperature.
Merino wool helps keep your little one comfortable as temperatures change, but it's still important to dress them appropriately for the climate.
Do I need to wash Woolino merino wool clothes before the first wear?
No need! Your Woolino garments are ready to wear straight out of the package, although you're welcome to wash them first if you prefer.
When it's time for a wash, follow the instructions on the care label carefully to keep your merino wool feeling soft and looking its best.
Why does merino wool sometimes smell when wet?
If you've noticed a slightly unusual smell when your merino wool gets wet, don't worry! It's completely normal for natural wool to have a distinct scent when damp - sometimes described as a "wet dog", "burned", or "perm" smell.
Woolino uses natural merino wool that's gently processed to preserve its wonderful qualities. Some residual lanolin, a natural wax found in wool, may contribute to that familiar "wet wool" smell.
The scent usually disappears once the garment is completely dry and often becomes less noticeable after a few washes. You might even notice that one Woolino garment has a stronger scent than another. That's simply part of working with a natural fiber.
How do I remove stains from merino wool baby clothes?
For the best results:
- Act quickly. Stains should be treated immediately. Do not apply any form of heat, as this tends to set most stains, making them more difficult to remove.
- Use cold water. Rinse the stained area thoroughly in cold water.
- Try one of these homemade stain remover mixtures:
- The preferred option is a mixture of liquid laundry detergent and a few drops of white vinegar. Cover the stain with the mixture and allow the liquid to sit on the stain for at least an hour. Blot the stained area gently with a cloth before rinsing thoroughly with clean water. Repeat if necessary.
- Another option is a mixture of one part (1 Tsp) dish soap and two parts (2 Tsp) Hydrogen Peroxide (3%). Apply some of the mixture over the stain and let it sit for several hours.
- Rinse and wash. Rinse thoroughly, then wash according to the garment's care label.
Avoid hot water, bleach, harsh stain removers, and vigorous rubbing, as these can damage delicate merino fibers. For more stubborn stains, take a look at Woolmark's wool stain removal guide.
Why choose merino wool over cotton for baby clothes?
We love natural fibers, but merino wool has a few special tricks up its sleeve!
Both cotton and merino are soft and breathable, but merino is especially good at managing moisture and regulating body temperature. While cotton can stay damp after absorbing moisture, merino helps move moisture vapor away from the skin, keeping your little one feeling more comfortable. We love superfine merino wool for baby clothes because it’s naturally soft, lightweight, and wonderfully versatile through changing seasons.
Are merino wool base layers good for babies and toddlers?
They're a wonderful choice! Merino wool base layers offer warmth without bulk, making it easy to keep your little one comfortable without putting on heavy clothing.
Our 100% superfine merino wool base layers feel beautifully soft against the skin and help manage moisture and body temperature. They are ideal when worn under winter clothes when it's chilly or on their own when the weather is milder.
Can Woolino merino wool clothes be machine washed?
Yes! Woolino merino wool garments can be machine washed, because we know baby clothes need to be practical, too.
Just check the care label for your specific garment. Use the recommended gentle or wool cycle and a mild, wool-safe detergent. Avoid bleach, fabric softeners, and heat.
With a little care, your Woolino merino wool clothes will stay beautifully soft for many wears to come.
