  • Won’t wool itch my baby’s skin?

Absolutely not. We use only superfine merino wool, which unlike the traditional wool, feels like silk against baby’s delicate skin. In fact, because of its softness and unique breathability, it is perfect for treating conditions such as heat rash and eczema.

  • Isn’t merino wool too hot for warm temperatures/climates?

Our merino wool baby garments are lightweight and perfect for year-round wear. Merino helps naturally in regulating baby’s body temperature. It creates a micro-climate around them, gaining or losing heat as required to produce warmth in cold conditions and enhance cooling effects in warm conditions.

  • Woolino merino wool garments seems rather thin, should I worry whether it’ll keep my child warm?

Merino provides warmth without having to be bulky. Unlike traditional wool, the finesse of the Merino fiber allows for a very fine spun yarn and knit fabric. Because of the way fine Merino fibers are crimped together, it has greater density than other fibers, which allows it to retain heat better than other thicker fabric.

  • How do I know if my child is hot or cold?

Please check if your baby is hot or cold while sleeping by touching her tummy or behind her neck. Touching baby’s hands and feet are NOT good indications of their actual body temperature.

  • Do Woolino garments need to be washed before the first use?

No, it is not required to wash your Woolino garment prior wearing. When you wash it, please follow the care instructions carefully.

    • Why does wool smell when it gets wet?

There is an odor associated with wet wool, sometimes described as a "wet dog", "burned", or "perm" smell. This particular smell of wet wool is present because we use natural merino wool that has been minimally processed in order to preserve the lanolin content inside the wool.

Lanolin is naturally present in merino wool and is responsible for giving wool all of the great properties that we love: wicks away sweat, resists stains, feels soft to the touch, stays elastic, and resists bacteria and odors. Wool is a natural product. Even if you have multiple products, one may have a higher lanolin content than the other, accounting for a difference in smell.

You should not notice this smell at all when the product is completely dry. Over time, the smell will be less and less noticeable after washing as the lanolin content in the wool dissipates.

    • How to remove stains from wool?

Stains should be treated immediately. Do not apply any form of heat, as this tends to fix most stains making them more difficult to remove.
Rinse the stain immediately and thoroughly in cold water. Then, apply one of these two homemade stain remover mixtures that we recommend:

    1. The preferred option is a mixture of liquid laundry detergent and a few drops of white vinegar. Cover the stain with the mixture and allow the liquid to sit on the stain for at least an hour. Blot the stained area gently with a cloth before rinsing thoroughly with clean water. Repeat if necessary.
    2. Another option is a mixture of one part (1 Tsp) dish soap and two parts (2 Tsp) Hydrogen Peroxide (3%). Apply some of the mixture over the stain and let it sit for several hours. Wash afterwards as usual.

When ready to wash, check the product care tag for best results. Following our recommended care instructions will ensure the best possible wear while maintaining & prolonging the life of your Woolino.

Customer photo review of Kids Merino Wool Base Layer, Long Sleeve Top, Honey

This base layer (top and bottom) was exactly what I'd hoped for after doing some research on some blogs and owning the sleep sacks from Woolino. Loved both the sets we ordered, but the yellow color was simply my favorite. It looked exactly like it did online. I have a 17 month old who is on the larger size for his age range, and I bought the size 2 and we cuffed both the long sleeve top and the bottoms to wear as a base layer under his outfit for December at Zion National Park. He was kept very warm (but not too warm). The only reason I didn't have him run around in just the shirt was because we needed to rewear the sets a couple days.

My son loves this shirt. He wore it every day of our 3 day camping trip. It kept him warm in the mornings and cool in the afternoons. If never smelled and washed up great when we got home. This is my 5th or 6th woolino purchase. I love this brand.

Big brother loves his navy wool long johns Now baby sister has a set too! Perfect for Idaho winters!

We love our base layers! I put them under my toddler’s Halloween costume for trick or treating and she didn’t complain once about being cold! We plan on buying more in the future.

Good quality but the color is mustard yellow instead of a soft yellow.

My son is between 24m and 3T clothing. We got the 4T base layer size and it fits great with the cuff. We just wish we'd gone up another size because of the diaper area.

Soft and fit is excellent. Using them as pajamas for 20 month old granddaughter who transitioned from Woolino footed sleep pajamas. Quality is excellent. Will not hesitate to buy again when she advances to 3T size.

We wore this basically everyday in the winter! Under his snowsuit and even in the house after a day of riding. Love it

My Grandson has been wearing his Woolino’s every day since he was 2. I’ve bought him numerous pairs that have been passed down to his sister and they both love them. Wear like iron, soft to the touch, easy to wear under his clothing and great to sleep in.

I had purchased several Medium Base layers for my six year old Grandson who has a blood disorder and must wear the medium or lightweight base layers once the temperature goes below 45.0 Degrees. After purchasing these several pairs of medium and lightweight thermal underwear they weren’t soft but somewhat scratchy but the bottoms were fine. I wasted a couple hundred dollars on the thermal tops. I then came upon your site and decided to try the merino wool fabric and I love it and will start shopping your Woolino Brand for the next Fall/Winter season. I can’t tell you how excited I am as your Woolino Brand is sooooo soft and my sweet Grandson will be much more comfortable wearing Woolino thermals. Eugenia Crawford

Great quality and this was a great base layer for my boys on our recent ski trip. Will buy again!

Nicely made and warm, for perfectly. U daughter likes it under her dresses in winter. There was an issue with the packaging (oil stains, oddly) on the first one I received and customer service sent another right away. I really appreciate it.

Woolino are some of the best woolies I have gotten for my 8 year old daughter. We buy new woolies every other year, and these ones are by far the softest, and most comfortable she has had yet. They were also excellent with their customer service. I highly recommend these!

This top is loose-fitting with room to grow but comfortable cuff fit. The fabric is so soft and warm, thin enough for an underlayer, thick enough to be a shirt. I want to dress my kid in it every day.

Can't say enough good things about these base layers. Kid has worn these sets camping in summer and now as base layers in the winter - they held up when he was sliding on rocks outside, and continuing now as he plays inside after the winter outerwear is off.

We have a tall 20 month old and this top fits her perfectly. It's a great weight - thin like cotton but much warmer. I also love that the neck is wide enough for my big-headed toddler to take it on and off easily.

Love the softness. Great for under clothes outside. Great for just wearing by itself inside.

My daughter loves the pink woolino baselayers for skiing! They’re so soft and warm and the color is beautiful.

Super soft material and love that it’s not only true to size but also has room for growth. Looking forward to adding more to our kiddo’s wardrobe as the school does lots of outdoor play no matter the weather.

The color is so beautiful (we got the warm yellow kids thermal long shirt). We have this same item in several colors from previous purchases. Love the quality, the warmth, the colors!

Love these. We bought the top and pants set after our son outgrew the same set in the previous size and in green from last year. He LOVES them - calls them his 'yellow pajamas' and asks to wear them all the time. He wears them under some pants and a fleece and snow jacket for playing outside in the NY winter, and that means he can stay outside much longer. Recommend!

My daughter has grown up with Woolino, from sleep sacks to clothing options. The wool base layers just held up fantastically to a week of hard outdoor play in freezing cold New England temps. Size was as expected - ordered slightly bigger than we needed to buy us growing time and they are still comfortably snug to her body while giving us extra length to play with. The quality is fantastic (extra reinforcements at the knees is genius) and expect we’ll get years of use with them keeping her warm, dry, and comfy. She wants to wear them day and night.

    Excelent, my son loves it!!!’

Exactly as described. Great base layer for snowy adventures or the hockey rink.

Exactly as described. Great base layer for snowy adventures or the hockey rink.

My grandson love how cozy and warm they are

    Woolino is simply the best!

I had an issue with one of my purchases. I had to fill a simple claims form, upload photos and promptly received a return less exchange. The process was completely online/automated, smooth (no need for endless customer calls and rehashing the issue to multiple reps) and required minimal effort from my end. Really appreciate the excellent customer service.

So soft and the kids love to wear them

The fabric is soft and warm

    Excellent base layer for toddler!

I really like the yellow color and material - reminds me of Smartwool 100 base layer. It's thin but you know it'll keep you toasty. Unfortunately this didn't work out for us (at least not yet) because my 15 month old is big for her age (25 pounds, and still has baby chub on her arms and legs). I bought the 2T. In general it fit, but the ankle part is too tight so it's hard to put on, and the entire length is quite tight in a way we don't like. We have this problem with a lot of clothes from many brands; we're not fans of ultra snug clothes which seems to be in style. Maybe if she gets slimmer as she gets older we'll try this again.

    Great fabric

    Good

    Great customer service And product.

    Yes

I love it ! I’m hoping my granddaughter will love it for Christmas.

Soft, fits well, very dependable warm fabric for our granddaughter who goes to forest school and needs the protectionof really efficient temperature regulation everyday!

Great fit, my daughter loves the way it feels and prefers it to other clothes, including picking it out for herself. Pairs well with the sweater we got her from woolino as well

    My son loves this!
